Just a reminder that the BVWS Punnetts Town swap-meet (East Sussex) is coming up on Sunday 6th August.
Doors open at 10 (stall holders 9.30). The usual variety of stalls selling Radio, Television, HiFi, Audio, Comms receivers, Test gear, Valves, Components, Spares, etc. Entry fee payable at the door. Ample free parking, refreshments. The BVWS stall will be there selling the usual range of capacitors, Deoxit, etc., and loads of items from the bulging BVWS stores at 'we don't want to take stuff back' prices! The BVW&TV Museum will have a stall too, selling surplus items to raise funds - you never know what you might find... And I'm hearing rumours that there will be another interesting display in the side room.... It's a members event but guests are very welcome for a sample visit to come and see what we're all about! You can even take the plunge and join the BVWS on the day! This is a great and friendly meeting in a beautiful location, in all a jolly good day out! STOP PRESS: THERE ARE STILL A COUPLE OF TABLES AVAILABLE - contact organiser John Howes - details in the Bulletin and on BVWS website.. There is no auction at this event so best get there for opening time if you're keen to find the bargains! See you there...

I enjoyed my visit to the Punnets Town Meet today, a linear village on the way to Heathfield [in the way that Sidley is the same above Bexhill]. My home town [Ramsbottom-not Bury now] has a similar relation to the nearby Edenfield ie a road continuation, rather than a cross roads like "Rammy" or "by the sea" Bexhill. All are great places! My daughters excellent carer was brought up in in Punnets Town!
I was happy to buy a GEC Export set probably made in Ireland [no LW and multiple Band Spread scales] some leaflets and service sheets, plus a bound Vol [16] of the "Wireless Engineer" a periodical which I'd not been aware of before. I was a bit short of time so, unfortunately, neglected to visit the side room display. What was it I wonder? Dave W in Bexhill Last edited by dave walsh; 7th Aug 2023 at 12:10 am. |

The side room had an excellent display of JVC Videosphere televisions and a large assortment of vintage novelty "toy" televisions such as viewers, coin banks and cigarette dispensers.

Thanks for that info Neil. I can be a bit dozy but [unusually] I was under a time pressure yesterday. It's always a very good venue to visit, like Golborne when I'm in the North

Judging by the lack of replies on this thread I wonder how many forum members attended? I did. and found it a bit disappointing. True, I picked up some capacitors from the BVWS stall, and a few knobs that "might" be suitable for my project, but overall I can't have stayed for more than an hour or so. The empty tables didn't help, obviously beyond the organiser's control. And there was a "bring and buy" stall? This wasn't publicised beforehand.
Parking was a problem. Half of the normal car park had been closed off for the building of a children's playground, and the nearby football game must have taken out a lot of spaces. I ended up some way down the road on the grass verge, along with many others. I have visited this meeting for several years, and as Dave says, it's always been a nice meeting, but without more support from both buyers and sellers it's viability must be questionable.
