As Lee said, the auction portering went really smoothly, with the next few lots always lined up ready to show. Hopefully Arthur will be a regular member of the team (he was also helping in the kitchen taking our payments all morning). I believe he's Jim's nephew.

Slightly embarrassing being presented with honorary membership and a weekend break voucher for 21 years service on the committee before the auction, even though I knew earlier in the week that it was happening...

I bought a few bits and pieces including a Vega transistor radio from the stall raising money for Dementia UK, a set of ProSound radio mics from the BTTT/MCR21 stall (which I will be donating to a local community group if I can repair the receiver), a corded Shure mic from another stall (same destination) and a box of unwanted EMI service data in the auction.

A great day despite numbers being down on last time, and I'm looking forward to December.

Right enough, reports of lower attendance & corresponding low prices doesn't bode well for future auctions. Hopefully it's just a glitch, and the VR fraternity's buying & selling will bounce back.
I'm actually bouncing more than bemoaning, as my handful of items more or less reached my expectations.
Many thanks to Mark James & Mike Barker for such great help in transporting my stuff to RWB. 'Specially as I live 500 miles or so away, up here in NE Scotland.
I tied on wee name labels to most items(which were mostly accompanied with either copies of manuals, handbooks, or just loose-leaf notes), so if folk have any queries - give me a shout. Whoever bought my Ferranti 145 got a bargain, but it did have a wee corner of glass missing - - which I've just found in an envelope ! I can post it down to you, if needed. The most rare item I reckon - was the Tottenham Wireless Society 1920's Wavemeter. Signal Generation in its infancy - using spark-gap(buzzer) technology. I've also just found the original calibration charts.
Anyway, all my stuff started its journey south just after New Year, and now is in good hands, I hope.

The award was well deserved Paul, I think few of us ordinary members appreciate just how much time and effort the committee members put into the running of the BVWS on our behalf.

I am also looking forward to the December meet its usually the high light of the year.

Another Grand Day Out.

Agree, the numbers were down, hopefully not a sign of the times.

Picked up a few bits and bobs including a Grundig TK5 output transformer on the Bring and Buy stall, oh-well, just need to find another for another stereo amp project!

The ‘biscuit tin’ stall unearthed a few interesting bits and bobs for a donation to dementia charities.

Agree with Mike, the award was well deserved. I’m always appreciative of the time and effort the committee members put into the running of the BVWS on our behalf.

Finally, it was tad ironic, there I was wearing a Radio Caroline Tee-shirt bidding on (and bagged) a Bush radio with Radio Caroline on the dial, all be it on the opposite end of the dial to where they are now!

Thanks for the kind comments, things are looking a bit uncertain at the moment.

Good evening,
I had a good day out with my son and came home with a few items.

It did look quite a quiet day, Not sure why, The weather was good and there were no traffic issues. Some of the items in the auction went for very little, Even the nice pre-war sets hardly made double figures even with excellent cabinets. Maybe everyone's running out of room for large table sets.

It is much appreciated to put on such an event especially carting all of the items for the auction especially as some of the items are not exactly lightweight!! Also a big thanks for Jim who spent all day in the kitchen making rolls and tea for everyone.

I came away with 2 frequency response analysers which look interesting to get running. I also came away with some peculiar electrical thingies from the biscuit tin stall. A couple of scrap radios came home for a few pounds, Ideal for teaching my son valve electronics!!

I was over the moon to get the Tefifon table and portable players in the auction as I have many of the cartridges to play on it once they are restored.

To cap it off, on Monday I acquired a Pam model 804 17" "fire screen" console television from Doncaster which looks as if it could be a good restoration. This looks like a very thin receiver until you see the neck of the CRT sticking out the back!!
