Default Taylor 45D2 valve tester

Hi all folks, I am a new entry and lucky owner of a Taylor 45D2 valve tester. Despite good general conditions it doesn't work. Are possible f.s. and zeroing settings with A-B controls but no or poor reading results with a new valve (tested with TV-7D/U). All components seems to be good, no smoked parts. Rectifiers seem ok. I have data and operating instructions manuals (c/w el. diagram) but nothing about repair or calibration. Someone can help me? Many thanks and greetings. Paolo Serravalle, I1IMA

Service report updating: I have replaced: both rectifiers - 0.1µF /400V capacitor - Gas test push-button c/w 270kohm res. - checked all resistors and capacitors - cleaned/checked all potentiometers - checked rotating selectors-checked METER TEST push button. Measured all voltages on transformers and socket outputs. Results: all is OK but the tester doesn't work except "FIL CONT" (indicator is good). Testing any good (100%) valve the indicator needle has a little movement under zero or nothing. Someone had same trouble? Thanks all. Caractacus

I’ve repaired dry joints and broken/burned contacts on the rotary switches.

Hello Martin, thanks for your suggestion. The cabinet internal is perfectly clean, no dust or dirty, all contacts and solderings seem clean and glittering, nevertheless I'll try once more. Unfortunately this instrument have been produced not thinking to future service...rigid single thread wiring and component layout are a real torture. Now it's in its carton to avoid smashing it (HI)... in a few days I'll re-open this damn tester. P.S.: in a previous life I did work with ASEA-Västerås - Hi all. Paolo
