Re: Sky Queen hums but no sound
Hi Paul, and glad to read that you've got the Sky Queen working again. I've owned two of these in the past, and I agree they work well and sound good, although the Sky King is more appealing looks-wise to me.
My last set came with a battery, which I re-stuffed with new cells and it now powers my Sky King very effectively. For the modest cost of a few pound-shop PP3s and a couple of D-cells, it's worth making a battery pack so that these old radios can be used truly portable once again.

Hi
I am glad its working, Try not to bend the wonky vane out too much past being parallel with the other vanes, or the RF alignment may be disturbed. Mike |

I might reproduce a battery pack Phil, I've seen templates online that you can cut out.
Mike - I used the lid of a biro and very gently prised the edge of the fin away. I've checked the frequency of several stations and they're spot on. My late grandmother would be very happy if she knew this beautiful old radio was filling the air once more with its unique and warm sound. |
