Good news and well done, a delight to me to see it as one of these was our family set from a couple of years before I was born until 1968. Probably averaged six hours a day and I only remember a couple of repair visits from Mr. Gotobed: unfortunately it vanished during my first term at Durham, or no doubt it would have followed me around ever since.

Classic O/C cathode connection. You will be lucky if it lasts as the spot weld has failed but at least you know it's good until a good CRT turns up, and it will. Regards, John.

Good evening,
The set is still going well after several hours running. The tubes brightness and picture quality are really very good. I do hope it holds up.
Just a couple of pictures of the tube's size. Because it is a 90° tube rather than a 110° tube, the CRT cone is massively bigger. Handling such a tube is definitely not for the beginner or the faint hearted or those with the CRT phobia!!

Even more so with the odd scan coil attachment holding the cone and neck up and it then getting stuck on the neck on some wax when trying to remove them ended up as a bit of a balancing act!!
