My favourite charity shop, Changing Lives in Didcot, has a nice-looking Sanyo Betamax on sale at the moment.

Didn't see how much they were asking, but it's no doubt very sensibly-priced knowing them.

There's another good charity shop at the other end of Didcot Broadway with lots of old HiFi stuff and other electricals as well as furniture. Can't remember what it's called though.

That VTC9300 looks factory fresh.

I think that's the same shop, which moved from beside Didcot Electrical, when its dilapidated premises were demolished last year:

As of lunchtime today, they also had a pair of tatty, but apparently sought-after, Linn "Kan" speakers for £30.

No, Changing Lives used to be in that semi derelict shed past the Orchard Centre which has now been demolished. I haven't been since they moved, but I think they're still at the Orchard Centre end of Broadway. The place I mean is at the other end, past the big pub on the opposite (south?) side. Of course, charity shops come and go and they may have closed since I last visited.

That Sanyo was my first VCR back in the day.

You have a much better selection in charity shops there. Many here don't sell electricals at all, and the few that do never have any older tech than small flat screen TVs and DVD players (or if they do the car boot sellers and "vintage" stores buy it all before I see it).

Didcot does have a particularly good collection of charity shops, all in a fairly compact area. It's not the most appealing of places, but for anybody in the general area it makes a good day out if you include a visit to the Railway Centre next to the station.
