SAC 31 back to life
Finally finished her last night, checked out all the voltages, replaced the valves, and fired her up. Whilst it's quite a simple set, its still given me an enormous sense of achievement, and its saved a nice bit of history from ending up in the skip.
it brought in a good few stations at good volume on MW, but not a lot on LW, I guess there arent too many on there, and I was only on a short bit of wire. Im looking forward to getting it all back in the cabinet, its a decent sized "rola" speaker, and sounds like it has the potential to have a nice tone to it. the only bit I still need to source is some speaker cloth. Ive got Sids samples but not sure about the tygan, as it wasnt originally fitted with this. Ive got a letter on its way to the states, a couple of samples on grillecloth.com look promising. next time Im in the garage Ill post up a few pics of the chassis and cabinet. and when I get the grille cloth fitted Ill do one of it complete. |

Nice one, Steve.
It's always satisfying to make something special out of someone else's rubbish - seems to have become my speciality! Look forward to seeing the pictures. |

Re: SAC 31 back to life
Hi Steve,
Glad to hear about the set (hope the info came in useful) ! Some of John Okolowicz's cloths look rather useful - from John's "palettes" numbers 61 and 62 are close to some of the Bush patterns. Mike. |

Re: SAC 31 back to life
Nice set Steve.
I like the cabinet design, especially the wavy speaker fretwork. Looks very like a Philips from that point of view. |
