Re: Field telephones Type F Mk.II
Many thanks for this colour-coded diagram - most helpful. I can read almost any valve-era RX or TX circuit but have had trouble getting my head around the Field Telephone Type F.
I shall carry out your suggestions (when a spare half hour can be found) and report back. Peter |

Re: Field telephones Type F Mk.II
One of the pair of telephones tested OK against Dagscarlsen's list. The other was faulty along the points B-C-D. A hand lens revealed some leads that were cut very close to the main cable bundle. Cutting the string binding showed that seven wires had been cut (see attached thumbnail). A couple of extra connections had also been tacked on to the bell solenoid - re-routed wires??
I had earlier thought that the rubber insulation was OK but close inspection revealed it to be softened and perished in many places. I decided that the wiring in this telephone could not be repaired and so have now completely stripped it and cleaned all components, ready for a complete re-wire. As before, progress with be reported as and when . . . Peter Last edited by G3PIJpeter; 18th Apr 2024 at 5:05 pm. Reason: extra info. |
