Default Signals Museum at RAF Henlow

The Signals museum at RAF Henlow has been closed for over a year now and the large exhibits have been re-homed with other museums.

We are raising funds for charities by selling various items of equipment, components and valves from the museum.

Please have a look as you never know what might appeal to you.
https://www.signalsmuseum.uk/index.html

To make an offer, click the link to the "Genuki email page" below the picture and complete your details on the message form.

In the message part, please include your offer and the URL of the item's page as the person dealing with your request may not understand the technicalities that radio people take for granted!

Best wishes,
Alf

Hi Alf, is it possible to collect items personally on a successful offer, or is it delivery only? I ask as I'm not a million miles away from Henlow and some of the interesting things are probably large and monumentally heavy! It's not obvious from the website, at least as far as I could make out,

Thanks, Colin

I was looking at this up-date today as well Colin. If you scroll down the front page,it says that the Museum is closed and it's not possible to visit as the building is now empty. There is a comprehesive master list of the items apparently available to buy [along with the various categories] via a "reasonable offer". I was looking at one or two items but then recognised some that had been sold at an auction in July So I'm not really sure what is available. There is a note further back apologising for a delay in reponding, due to a shortage of people to deal with things so perhaps there had to be a wholesale disposal?

Hi Dave, I saw the bit about the museum being closed to visitors, but took the statement about it also being empty as implying that the remaining items were stored elsewhere, presumably with a need to move them on without too much delay. Yes, there were quite a few "page not found" items, so I assume that clearance is ongoing possibly with delay in updating due to folk being otherwise occupied,

Yes the building is empty, so they are likely held elsewhere.

There is a cross reference with Scott Boucher's thread [24/9/25 and now closed] re a Barn Find R107 RX! The first set I looked at on the Henlow list had gone to Auction. It was a R308 VHF Receiver apparently designed to be a HF "add on" to the R107 so I was very interested to read about it's renovation elsewhere. I'd never heard about this set before, either in conjunction with the 107 or singular!

The items sold at Auction, to my knowledge were not from the actual museum display, though Alf will of course be able to confirm this.

What I am certain of is that the items that still remain are not at Henlow - And a lot of what is listed has already gone.

I am local to where the items are stored, so if anyone needs help, then give me a shout - I can assist with collection if needed.

Hello,

I got some 6SL7GT valves for an old-ball amp project and a pair of HC-6/U 9.302 MHz crystals to see if I can get that RF gadget going, I bagged at Biggleswade.

They were helpful and friendly and the valves and crystals all arrived safe and sound.

Thanks very much for the info Sean. Given that Alf made a very recent appeal for purchasers, I don't want to put anybody in a position where they feel obliged to indicate what is actually available now? It was clearly a difficult and perhaps distressing experience to deal with all these so many items, so I can understand the situation. Everything has been very well detailed except what has actually gone or remains

I've made a few purchases from this sale, Colin has been very helpful, and items have arrived packed excellently.

But alas, it's sad to see yet another interesting museum bite the dust.

Cheers, Scott.
