The loudspeaker appears to be original and permanent magnet I shall fit a 400 and see how we go when it's new electrolytics arrive

U647 diagram uses a 304 barreter, no resistors connected to it, why would there be? I'ts on the AC part, filaments ballast.

However there is a 400 ohm resistor in the tone network, R23.

Not suggesting that this is the set, we have not even got a picture of the radio but Philco made lots of sets witH 304 barretters and many parts of the circuit will be common.

To whoever asked if I'd got the model number correct yes I have and no I can't find any reference to it either the chassis seems to be loosely based on the v537

Just found the IF frequency for this set on Radiomuseum.Listed as 465khz.

Which is in itself quite uncommon for Philco and also quite "British".

Has the OP revealed what the complete valve lineup is yet?

Looking at the label on back of set,line-up is:
6A7 78E 75 18E 25RE & 301 or 302 Barretter.
