Re: DDRC boot sale Sunday 22 May
I always try and get along. The earlier the better.
It is good for valves (loads of boxed and unboxed valves at sensible prices) and components. Also good for test equipment and consumables. There are usually quite a few domestic valve radios and quite a few ham/transceiver/armed forces type radios. Don't expect to find many round Ekco's though Hope the weather is good as it is all outside!! Christopher Capener

If the weathers fine I hope to be there and sell some bits and pieces of mainly amateur radio gear.

Shame, that one was always my fave rally used to stall up most years. Bit too far now we are in Cornwall !

Re: DDRC boot sale Sunday 22 May
As Usual this event was very popular and was the busiest I have seen it for some years.
I was very fortunate to procure a Ever-Ready Model H in virtually mint condition for a very reasonable price. I even has the original card instruction sheet on the front! Excellent day all round. Trevor, |

Re: DDRC boot sale Sunday 22 May
First time I've been and I came home with some 'bargains' A Tek 453 for a fiver (the price of which undoubtedly may reflect how much it will cost to get working!), a manufacturer cased Regavolt Variac with shorted windings which is OK as I have an uncased one to drop straight in and a 240 pri/115 sec 300VA transformer for a quid.

Yes, an excellent rally / junksale, with the bonus of unexpectedly fine weather. I had a stall and went home with less stuff than I started out with, so it must have been good...

Re: DDRC boot sale Sunday 22 May
I enjoyed the event this year as the weather was good, I sold some bits and had a fish and chip lunch.
Possibly even chatted with some forum members as people rummaged through my items. I bought some U series (100 mA) valves. John |

Re: DDRC boot sale Sunday 22 May
A good day out, had a stall (as usual) saw lots of forum members, and chatted to a good few as well.
Chris (Onewatt) was helping on the stall, for which, much thanks are due, not entirely sure that he totally grasped the concept of coming back with less than we arrived with.... Anyway, I was good, and only came back with one RA1792 receiver, which is satisfyingly dead - doubtless it will appear in the relevant section once I have purchased all of Asia's Tantalum capacitors!

Re: DDRC boot sale Sunday 22 May
Had a good day,
Came away with a really nice IP68 industrial steel case project box with a window in and a couple of end view magic eyes to play with. Also bought some rather nice (though rather big!) 3 phase contactors though I am kicking myself as I wish I had bought the other 2!! Also came home with a few free moving coil meters to restore. No radios or peculiar test equipment today as I have so many round to it projects to complete before getting more!! Christopher Capener

Re: DDRC boot sale Sunday 22 May
I've just had a thought...
VMARS always has a photocall for members present at the event, announced over the PA system. Would it be a good idea for members of this forum to do something similar in future years? |
