Re: Do You Recognise This?
Hi Stuart and welcome.
Could you clarify what it says on the label, please. What's the model number? 207?? "Hayes" suggests it's an HMV or Marconi product. And what does it say on the brass plaque, if anything? Nick. |

Re: Do You Recognise This?
A clear shot of the valve list paragraph would be good.
Two output valves suggests pushpull and a reasonable level of audio. This would tie in with the "community" tag.

Re: Do You Recognise This?
Talk of an accumulator and desiccator is interesting, and suggests it was designed to be used in a remote and damp location.

Re: Do You Recognise this Cabinet
From what I can make out in the picture the valves are:
W30 K MET (RF) H30 MET (Det.) N30 K (AF)(two of) All 13 volt heaters. Lawrence. EDIT: Maybe this post should be in the radio section? |

Re: Do You Recognise this Cabinet
It appears to date from the mid-1930's, and I suspect was made by Marconi.
Or possibly HMV, but I still think Marconi |

An interesting snippet here, built for tropical conditions apparently:

Re: Do You Recognise this Cabinet
A bit more shuffting in Google books reveals the it was made by The Gramophone Co Ltd in co-operation with the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Co Ltd:

Re: Do You Recognise this Cabinet
Fascinating and very rare (though not necessarily of any monetary value). Shame the chassis has not survived. Might be worth someone uploading a pic to Radiomuseum as I couldn't find it there.

Re: Do You Recognise this Cabinet
Something to put it in a historical context, it was a long download on my computer, might be faster on anyone else's, when the file opens head for page number 43 of the report, the receiver is mentioned, it's worth scrolling to earlier page numbers to get the full picture regarding Marconi and India.
