Bush Model EBS44
Hi All, I recently bought a Bush Export model EBS44. Sadly the cabinet suffered badly at the hands of the delivery company. I'm wondering, is there a UK version of this, ie: similar dimensions? If so I could keep an eye out for one and graft it into a new cabinet. The scale on this is rather wide so despite seeing many similar styled Bush models i'm unsure as to whether there is a close equivalent. It would be a simple enough job to swap over the chassis and grille. Perhaps someone will recognise it as looking like theirs. Thanks, Colin.

Re: Bush Model EBS44
Hi Colin,
Your set could be the export version of the 1953 Bush AC34/DAC34 (Trader Sheet No.1147). Unable to compare the dimensions, but visually the only differences appear to be the dial legend and the inclusion of the magic eye. I think the wooden case used might be common to both sets? Regards |

Re: Bush Model EBS44
Just checked the two sets here;
http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/bush_ebs44.html http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/bush_ac34ac_3.html and according to the dimensions listed, whilst appearing very similar the EBS44 has a physically larger case than the AC34. Sorry! Regards |

Re: Bush Model EBS44
Hello Colin,
I've recently spoke to Mike Izycky, whom I'm sure you are aware is the final word on all things Bush and has the website; www.bushradio.co.uk He states that the EBS44 was uniquely an export set and has no domestic equivalent sharing the same sized cabinet. So unfortunately you're only going to find a replacement from another EBS44. Regards |

Re: Bush Model EBS44
The Bush EBS.44 looks as if it has electrical bandspread for some of the shortwave bands. Not so surprising, perhaps, for an export model of the period, but if so, a change of direction for Bush who in its earlier (I think) EBS.24/EU.24 model had opted for a mechanical/optical bandspread system that it named “Teleflic”. It worked reasonably well and the distinctive Teleflic dial was often a subject of conversation.
