Re: Your TV collection...
I've a large enough collection, mine are all 90's onwards so quite newer than what most members on here might have but most of them are/were my childhood tv's.
I'll list them all and add a few pics. Ferguson A51F (IKC2 Chassis) 1991 Ferguson FTV21F2A (11AK30) 2006 Sharp CV2133IR (8PSR) 1990 + CV2134IR. Same set essentially the 34 needs a new board. Sharp 66DS03IR (CA10) 1999 Sharp 66DS05H (CA10) 1999 Sharp C3710H (8PSR) 1990 Philips 21PT166A (Anubis AAC) 1994 Philips 21PT166B (AA5) 1995 Philips 21PT442A (GR2.2) 1993 Philips 14PT136B (AA5) 1995 Dansai 9313A (GT9313) 2000 Beko 20" (dont know the model/Chassis, its in the shed) 2004 ____________ Thats all i have now, used to have a lot more but had to scrap alot of them. ____________ Still have a few dream sets i need to get: Ferguson E51R8 (IKC2) Ferguson A59F (ICC7) Ferguson 51P7 (TX98) or 59P7 (ICC5) Ferguson T14T/R Ferguson D59F (ICC9) Sony KV25X1L (BE3-D)

Re: Your TV collection...
You glutton for punishment you
The ICC9 was not a very nice chassis whilst I repaired many and they kept me in a job at the time Maybe you would like the Ferguson version of the IDC2 chassis to fit in with your undoubted masochism The TX98 and ICC5 were ok though, the Sharp CS chassis was another 'marmite' set. Edit: Sony was just shall we say Sony, if you like the BE3D you might like the way the AE 5 onwards LOPT stage worked

Quote:
Never seen an IDC2 set, would be intrested to though. Ive heard horror stories of the CS chassis, the CA10 in my sets seems to be far more reliable, the 05H i have has had to flyback replacments other than that they seem to be decent ive never experianced any other issues with mine. The Sony was a TV my nanny had and id want one purely for the nostalgia, I hated it at the time because it replaced the perfectly working Ferguson E51R8 before it. I grew to love it though and eventually it was given to a family friend and a few years later i heard it "blew up" Ive heard many many horror stories of the ICC5 sets, id prefare to find a 51P7 with the TX98 as that was the first set my nanny had from when i was born till i was 4 and she bought the E51R8. The 51P7 went into storage to be fixed (just shut down one day and wouldnt come back on) it never got fixed after a few years and got scrapped. There must still be a few of them knocking about, just have to keep looking

I love the hoard in photo #5. They look like an audience waiting for a performer.

Re: Your TV collection...
My most recent purchase (unboxed today): a Bush TV22 Mk X?...
It's in great condition (with a nice layer of dust), and I see no signs of previous repairs / restoration. The main chassis S/N is 124/06297 (so Mk 2). The RF chassis is numbered A22/22715 (so, again, Mk2). However, the RF chassis is populated with EF91 miniature valves (see attached photos). As far as I know, Mk2's are supposed to have EF80s only. The date on the 50 uF cap on the RF deck is May 52. As anyone come across something like this? Helder |

Re: Your TV collection...
I have now made a second album of the rest of the sets in my collection. the 19" Marconi was my parents first colour set that they bought. Previously we had a Decca 2230 which was rented from Granada for a year. I was probably around 12 when that set was new. The Marconi did sterling service until it was replaced when I started work. It then became a second set and was eventually stored for years. It is now back in use in my dining room.
The Set at the side of it is my treasured Invicta 7070U which I have owned since I was 11 or 12. I watched all my favourite programmes in my bedroom Monty Python , Barretta, and of course because it was UHF I could get the Old grey whistle test on BBC2. This thread certainly has brought out some fantastic collections! My thanks to all that have taken the trouble to post pictures. It is really nice to see some of the old stagers it is also good to see some of the more modern sets being preserved for the future. I am surprised not to see some of the Sinclair sets that seemed to be popular (despite the price) back in the day? |

Re: Your TV collection...
I used to rip out the battery in used Polaroid instant films to power my Sinclair unit, loads of life in them.

Re: Your TV collection...
You just need to reposition the contacts with a bit of foil, otherwise identical.

Re: Your TV collection...
I've heard of TV80 owners using the batteries from Polaroid film packs once the official Sinclair ones started to get rare.

Re: Your TV collection...
I have only a few sets. They are:
A Panasonic 28-inch widescreen CRT set. This has never given a moment's trouble during the 14 years I've had it. A 1960 Philips 17TG100-U. Now on its third LOPT. Gives a splendid 405-line picture. A c.1970 Sony 9-90UB. Originally assembled as a 'cut 'n shut' job from the best bits of two sets obtained from a well-known auction site. A 'Bude' console. A Baird Townsman cabinet with Bush TV24 insides and various other bits & bobs (see pic). An Argus, constructed in 1990 (see pic). Currently configured to run between 120 and 240 lines. Two Retrovisors: an 'Imperial' from 1993 and a 'Festival' (see pic) from 1995 - the last one made. Mechanical televisors: one 30-line, one 120-line. Both colour. Can't think of any more at the moment... Steve

Here's a few of mine in a set for a TV programme shown last year with the comedian Elis James who was supposed to be back in the Eighties - I think!
