I'd star by replacing that brake pad. It looks pretty puny to begin with.

I find pound shop 'anti slip' pads useful for this sort of thing. There's one pack with a variety of thicknesses which is ideal. You might want to add a tiny drop of superglue if you're concerned the adhesive may not be man enough for the job!

The supply reel/backtension is a bit more demanding, a cut up strip of thin felt might be what you need.
