Re the note from Neil Purling above, yes, you CAN use a HD floppy as described, but I understand that this should be considered very unreliable. There is discussion about this on the web. The recording characteristics required for the HD and DD disks are different, and the disk materials are optimised for the respective processes (hm, that should be the other way around) and the correct combinations should be stuck to. If it does work, you're lucky. If the disk still reads n months later, you're VERY lucky. Do this if you're desperate, AND it's for temporary storage ONLY.
