Hi Steve,
My Pye 838 has an RCA phono plug for the aerial socket and the Ekco models TA201 and TS701 are fitted with standard Belling-Lee coaxial aerial sockets.
The aerial socket on the Pye looks original which leads me to think that 1/4 or 3/8 inch diameter co-ax cable must have been available before WW2.

In the case of the two Ekco TVs, the co-ax sockets might have been fitted post-war.
