There was a circuit in one of the RSGB publications (perhaps Pat Hawker's Tech Tips compilations?) for fT measuring. It was a single-transistor oscillator, with controlled (and 'calibrated') amounts of feedback.

I still have my instantiation of it, and it works reasonably well. But I've lost all traces of the actual source (even though I'm fairly certain I must still have the book - somewhere

). Does this ring a bell with anyone?
