The metal top just pushes on. The socket will be a regular octal part without the flange that screws to the chassis. I bought some male ones to make adapters to replace an octal valve with a more modern one. The one you has a groove around the edge and a slot for the pip.
Mine are a little bit less meaty and do not have the depth for the groove that the indent close to the slot fits in on yours. There will be a notch for the pip.
It should pull off.
