The under-chassis mains transformer feeds the Pen45 heaters. It's rated at 5V at 8.6A with small droppers to get 4V. Entirely adequate.
The main transformer only has to deal with the heaters for the rectifier and the smaller valves.
I don't feel like replacing the output valves - it's rather nice as it is!
I am still trying to find time (and space!) to run it up properly.
It does look as if the mains transformer had to be replaced (with TWO others).
