I suspect that, as with the derivation of "OK" or "Kilroy", there may be a number of "definitive" answers! I'd be inclined to pronounce it as Brand-es (short 'e', soft 's') but English argot is infamous for making a meal of foreign-origin words (Elephant and Castle, Jerusalem artichoke). I always used to smile faintly at the way the uninitiated would pronounce Weber (the fuel systems manufacturer, not the composer) as if they were German rather than Italian.
