Andy, I now recall i posted details of Meter 769-2929 on the survey thread, starting at Page 72, Post No.1438 onwards. These notes are preferable to the handwritten ones, which are a bit muddled. (searching on 769-2929 i the quickest way to access it i imagine)

The peg at the rear of the early type nickel plated Z screw appears to be glass, i assume this is to prevent touching the screw with a finger affecting the needle deflection. It does look a bit fragile though, replacing the movement is delicate!
