Nail varnish is basically a brightly-coloured plastic material, dissolved in some sort of solvent which evaporates quickly (usually ethyl ethanoate). Nail varnish
remover is a solvent which dissolves nail varnish (usually propanone {acetone}) and not quite so voltatile, so the solution stays liquid for at least long enough to be wiped off with a tissue.
Since the coloured polymer itself dissolves in both solvents, it's reasonable to suppose that a substance which is soluble in one will also be soluble in the other. As they always say, test on an inconspicuous area first .....
