Shoemakers used to use something like this known in the trade( in Scotland, Clyde area anyway) as "tingles". Non magnetic, 1.4mm long, tapered square shaft ending up at head of circa 2mm and below as 1.4.
I've done a google for these, but can't find a match. However I've found a shoe repair place that stocks something close to what you are looking for

Dad was a shoemaker based outside Glasgow, and I've still got a stock I acquired from his shed when he passed on. If the tinflas fit the bill, let me know how many and a a fellow countryman I'll post them off.
