It may be worth mentioning that if you only need to quote part of the original post, delete the rest of it for readability and to save clutter. You can put something like [ ... ] or [snip] where the middle of a sentence has been removed or it is necessary to know that there was more text there.
Of course, you can also use the [ /quote ] and [ quote ] tags to split the quote text so you can put your comments on individual items.
