Telefunken probably just made a well-engineered product, choosing a suitable gauge for the voltages and currents to be carried. Solid core is cheaper if it doesn't need to flex in a permanent installation. The 'Amazing Sound" bull came along later. AEG-Telefunken seems to have been adopted with open arms by the golden eared fraternity and seemingly the company could do no wrong though they seem to forget the company were the maker of the fuhrer's favourite tape recorders.

I'm always amazed at the feats of hearing that allow the amazingness of sound to be clearly heard as due to a particular piece of wire and not, say, the left front foot of the amplifier.
