Yeah, they aren't proper Fergusons as such. As in, for example, the 8930 is the Baird/rental version of the Ferguson 3V30, the 8940 has no equivalent Ferguson 3V model, there is only the rental one (and original JVC and whatever other rebadges there might be). Quite often there is no badge. Some have a Ferguson badge stuck on. I have one which is the same, is the badge made out of a softish material? You can tell it's been stuck on after.
Great machines though, the sound is surprisingly good to say it's linear stereo. There also seems to be some changes to the video processing compared to the 3V30 and 3V29 and the tracking behaves differently in my experience, not as jumpy. Now you've got it going, it'll probably work for another 20 years, they seem to be more or less indestructible
