That code looks fine. Of course with only one clock there will not be any meta-stability problems.

There are different ways to look at initialization. What you have done is asynchronous initialization at the beginning of the process. There is nothing wrong with this, but you must ensure that all the signals that comprise the reset state are synchronous to the process clock or you may have meta-stability.
