Default Re: Looking for WWII bomb bay footage

Hi Nick

Original WW2 film is difficult for many reasons including rarity, film quality etc, and normally exists only in short film cuts.
Most British bombing shifted to night time, so daytime film is hard to find, as noted by others.
US 8th AF continued daytime action.
The video quality is mostly quite poor with both, as the intention was not to have best quality archival footage.

The video in the YouTube clip in post#10 by David is not bad.
The DVD "Bomber Command 1939-1945" by Pegasus Films (RAF only) has some footage, but mostly short clips of poor quality.
The original US movie "Memphis Belle" has some good daytime footage of reasonable definition, and in colour; you can easily remove colour.

The method in post #16 by Nick offers very good possibilities.
Maybe edited to show some real WW2 action clips as well?

Maybe also ask at IWM Duxford for their suggestions?

Just rambling thoughts.
Good luck to you.
