If I can venture a suggestion: While making your other changes, convert the highest finger on the keypad edge connector into a reset input. The top two fingers are originally 0V.
It always surprised me that SOC didn't do that - if you remote mounted the keypad (as many did, when they put the machine in an enclosure) then you always needed an offboard reset switch as well. The original design didn't allow for one to be connected via the keypad edge connector, which was a bit of an oversight.
..Though I'm not sure if you incorporated the issue V changes, in which case your reset capacitor and switch may go up to +5V instead of down to 0V?
