Hi Brian,
The cabinet restoration job was signed off late 2012 but I was not at all happy about that patch. It had to go, so on Friday I plucked up the courage to redo the panel. Removing the veneer was not all difficult and there was not too much corrective work to do to the surface of the front panel.
Fortunately, I found a piece of veneer that matches the other side, so a degree of symmetry is maintained.
As well as that patch we have the extra bonus because those woodworm holes are gone and the new veneer defines a perfect edge to the cabinet. All those chips and repair pieces are gone.
