I picked up a Tascam multitrack a while ago that had the rubberised finish. It was quite dirty so I soaked the case in some warm water and a sprinkle of washing powder for an hour or so. It not only removed the dirt but also the rubber finish and all of the legends. Ended up scrapped. Oops!
