When it comes to how much to spend, it's obviously a highly personal decision. Some people get a lot of satisfaction from working with lots of top quality professional tools and instruments, and are prepared to pay accordingly. Others actually enjoy making do with minimal amounts of cheap or even downright poor quality tools. Everybody is different.
