Remember when we did field service on valve TV's we only carried our toolbox into the home, and were normally able to fix the fault, the toolbox normally had all the bits needed to complete the repair. The van was for taking TV's to or from the workshop, or for new installations.TV's being normally larger than radios, I agree you would need a car in that case.
I have carried radios purchased from Gerry Wells back home on the bus and train with no problems.
I even carried a Yaesu FT101E back home on a bicycle.
With the cost of diesel and petrol increasing having venues near public transport could become an issue in the future.
Anyhow good luck to the workshop if it starts.
