Programmes like Scrapyard Challenge are just entertainment. You only have to think for a second about the practicalities of shooting such a show safely in a typical real working scrapyard to imagine some of the problems. There's also the strange coincidence that appropriate items always seemed to be available for each week's challenge
Nothing wrong with a bit of make believe, that's showbusiness.
