Hmm, I wouldnt use this for TV servicing.
How about using a crystal earpiece - stick a 1000v cap on the centre pin of the earphone plug, and probe the oscillator grid to listen for a buzz.... - you will not need it in your ear, as it will be quite loud.....
Time to get a cheap valved scope me thinks
