CDs and DVDs are CLV (constant linear velocity) though (at least, during playback; recording can be done at constant angular velocity, only slowing down if the data buffer is getting emptied faster than it is filling up). They speed up towards the centre, so as to keep the number of bits per metre constant.

I can see why records were CAV, though ..... it would be a nightmare to implement CLV in the mechanical domain!
