I should have mentioned, the door looks perfectly straight to me so I think its the seal that's deformed. In places it is split, brittle and has some holes in it.

I think I will need to replace it. Its a chunky seal, the gap between the door and fridge is 18mm. I've seen some 20mm weather stripping available, not the most eloquent solution but could work well.
