Thanks for your efforts Ian.

It may be of interest to note that an Avominor Type E testmeter has just come up for sale elsewhere, s/n E157-1954, indicating that the Type E was still being made in 1954. (It also supports my assertion that more than one sequence of serial numbers was allocated to the 'E', No.157 being an unsuitably low number for a meter that had been in production for 14 years!)

This meter is highly likely to have the additional back-board inside, loaded with component resistors. (Good longevity but poor access until the board is removed.)

Also of interest is a RAF label announcing that the meter requires attention but is repairable- either by an approved RAF facility or an approved outside contractor. The fault mentioned is an error of 2% on the 20mA range- and the date on the label is 1970.

Yet another piece of WW2 spec equipment that the RAF carried on using for quite some time, then.. The generation of a repair request on the basis of a 2% error seems excessive to me - (on such a small meter.)
