An aluminium rod can be inserted to prevent solder blocking the centre hole and keeping alignment,. then the circlip groove can be turned back. It would loose a couple of mm in length.

Hi Stephen, once I’m back in my London workshop, I might be able to rebuild the shaft, or defo give a good attempt at repairing it.
