I would add to Maarten's valid comment that you may find that you increase the G2, then back it off when the retrace lines appear, getting an acceptable picture...only to find the next time you switch on you are back to square one! So don't back it off too much.

At the end of the day, all these tweaks to the heater and screen settings are best seen as temporary workarounds. Just enjoy it as long as you can and keep looking for another set (not a Sony of this vintage!)
