Once someone thinks they have scented a treasure trove, and the light of unreason illuminates their eyes, there is not a lot you can do. They've had advice, they've had first-hand counsel. They have to make their own mind up, but I think they are likely to opt for their own first-hand experience.
If they can't get the thing to do what they want, then it becomes their turn to try to convince a subsequent purchaser that it's rare and very valuable...
It's a situation we all keep finding ourselves in, and it's difficult to not get enmeshed.
