In the end I have wired it as a "long line CB/auto", with the transmitter energised by a local battery, as follows:
T1 -> B1
T2 -> B9 -> T6
T5 -> B3 -> T8
T7 -> B4 -> Batt+
T9 -> B2 -> T10 (via dial if present)
Batt- -> B5
A leg -> B6/B7
B leg -> B8
