Mr Beaumont of RN Fitton/ Ambassador also contributed to the GA Briggs (Wharfedale) book on amplifiers, mentioning a (pre-war or wartime?) radio of theirs using a 60-W lamp as ballast for the CCH35, EF39, EBC33, CL33, CY31 lineup with no reported heater failures.
