Mine also have a red mark on one of the contacts and red marks on the coupling however when the red contact is closed the mark on the coupling is at "10 oclock" looking on the end on the pair mounted in one frame and at "8 oclock" on the other one.
If these were mounted in banks perhaps all sets in a bank were at the same position but different banks were at different positions ?
