“The painter chip fiasco”
I had not heard of this, a quick search produced a a different forum post from 2004, a company, not sure who, were quoting around £100 to replace the chip if the PCB was sent to them.
Not heard of the Philips CRT’s going flat either.
Seems I was better off out of it myself.
