Hi Neil
It may please you to know, that unscrewing and removing the terminals on an AVO 7 will reveal a threaded hole-exactly the right size for a standard 4mm plug.
Just be sure not to lose the terminals though!!
I'm sure you know AVO 7=1000 ohms /volt
AVO 8=20,000 ohms /volt
