I agree with Paul that grill toasting is pretty fool-proof ..... and I have over the years become pretty dis-enamoured of dedicated/stand-alone toasters until - I finally managed to acquire a second-hand Dualit at a car boot.
Parts for these Dualits aren't cheap [all parts are however readily available] - but how often are these required? The thing is essentially 'bullet-proof' anyway ........ featuring: a mechanical timer; a manual/mechanical slice lift; and a proper functional and effective crumb tray etc.
But the best part? It produces the best toast I've ever had [and keeps it warm until you remove it from the appliance/slot too].
I don't eat much toast - but have to fess-up to a 'warm smug feeling' these days when I do!
