They are good mid-market 1970s speakers, producing a sound which is very typical of the period. They are not as accurate or involving as later hifi speakers but are pleasant and forgiving to listen to. They are ideally suited to a 1970s 'silver front' amplifier from somebody like Sony, Trio or Yamaha.
All the Wharfedale models were popular in the UK and sold in large quantities, but the Linton models were the most common. The Dovedales are named after
Dovedale in Derbyshire.
Value? They're not worth a large amount, maybe €50 for a pair if in good condition. Why not keep them and use them yourself?
