Mike, it's interesting you should say that, i did wonder if it was a 'marriage' since i have a meter from 1945/46 with that style of moulding. The movement has most certainly been taken out at some point. The cardboard rear cover and instruction plate look contemporary with mid forties. There is no sign that those metal straps you see at the rear on earlier meters were ever fitted. There is no red 'fly speck' on the needle though i cannot glean anything from this since it seems on the Model 1 this feature was fitted rather randomly through the production (and i suspect it sometimes flew off in later use!)
